What has already been done

As mentioned above, the League was founded in 2001. The editors-in-chief of regional newspapers in it believe that in the period since, achievement has been quite great. They have found a closely –knit team, in which each member is a unique personality, a successful businessman or businesswoman and the head of an interesting regional newspaper with a good circulation. Initially, they were concerned with their pursuits, such as circulation, cost reduction, parties and professional contacts. Subsequently, it turned out that their own pursuits helped them become a powerful media force in the Privolzhsky (Volga) Federal District. The League was the only entity to win an interview with the Nobel-winning novelist Aleksandr Solzhenitsynin his last eight years. It was the first to organize a national contest of journalistic skills. All competitors were judges, which ruled out manipulation in awarding prizes. The League held a variety of meetings, conferences and events. For two years in row, it organized sports competitions in the Republic of Mordovia, which were called the journalistic Olympic Games. The League mastered the art of making inserts in allied newspapers, thereby broadening its reach on this country’s media field. It also cooperated with big companies. Regional governments invite the League members to watch elections. Locals welcome such visits and remember them for a long time.

League members are frequent travelers across Russia and abroad. Some visited Egypt and Tunis, together with prize-winners of contests, organized by the League. Many of these regional journalists subsequently advanced in their careers and won prizes in other professional competitions….The League has immensely grow in size. Registering in Moscow and declaring it at its congress in Ufa, it started productive cooperation with the Department of Tourism at the Ministry of Economical Development of the Russian Federation. Helped by prominent Russian journalists, such as Alexander Lubimov, Nikolay Svanidze, Vladimir Mamontov, Alexei Volin, Valery Fadeev, and Alexander Gurnov, the League gives master-classes in many Russian regions. It worked with the Russian Union of Journalists and with Media Union. At the invitation of Japanese colleagues, delegates from it visited Japan. Twenty newspaper editors in the League also made an interesting trip to Crete.

The League has a lot plans and has no doubt that it will be fulfilled them! It invites all regional media to contact it. You can also contact the editor of a League newspaper in your region for information about the League. The force of the League is in its unity!
